About Me

I am an Environmental Science and Recreation Management major at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. Ever since I started attending summer camp when I was 10 years old, I have always been fascinated with the great outdoors. Whether its a fawn walking through a meadow, a giant oak tree that has stood up to the test of time, or the bones left over from some animals’ meal, I am crazy about it all. Now my dream is to protect the outdoor world that I love so much and teach others how to do the same.

So what was I doing in Chile?

In a collaboration between App State and The Future School, I was able to participate in a five-week study abroad trip to Chile. Throughout the trip we traveled all over Chile looking at both the causes and effects of climate change around the country. At the end of the trip each student was responsible for creating an advocacy project relating to everything we learned during the trip – so here is mine. My goal with the website is not only to share everything that I saw occurring in Chile, but also to inspire you to do your part to reduce the human effects on the environment. I want to show that even though climate change is a worldwide issue and can seem a bit overwhelming, you can still make a difference.

As you navigate around the website you will see what I saw as the largest issues occurring in the places we visited. This by no way means that these issues are the only climate related changes that are impacting Chile, or even the most significant. This is just a representation of what stood out to me the most.
